Recreation Cheer

When we think of Cheer, the first word that comes to mind is fun, right?  Cheer is very fun, but it is so much more than that!  Many of the benefits of cheer and tumbling classes are related to learning more important developmental areas that will help your child become a better student and young adult.

Self-confidence, coordination, and hard work ethic are also benefits of being in a Cheer program that will last a lifetime. Through the challenge of learning tumbling and cheerleading skills, the students gain confidence with each step that they take. While performing stunts they must have faith in others, and they gain confidence in their own abilities.

In this non-competitive, introductory cheer class, athletes will learn basic fundamentals of cheer. We will focus on arm motions, jumps, stunts, and cheer terminology. Athletes will learn 8-counts of proper motion techniques sequenced together creating a simple “routine.”

Basic tumbling skills of rolls, bridges, handstands, and cartwheels are introduced. In addition, stretching and conditioning will be part of each class so that they can achieve strength and stamina to achieve cheer skills.

At the end of each month, cheer class puts on an informal presentation to spectators.
